The 46-year-old former Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets catcher confirmed earlier this week that he is interested in taking over the recently relegated, financially stricken outfit.

“I can assure you I will give you as much information as possible when it becomes available as we are still in the due diligence process,” Piazza has told us.

“Nothing is guaranteed as these bankruptcy situations are difficult as Italian law and U.S. law have their differences.

“All I can say is that being Italian American I am extremely proud of my ancestry and absolutely love Italian football.

“My father’s family is close to the Palermo region and Palermo is the first team I followed in Italian football.”
