Krzysztof Piatek ‘couldn’t have wished for a better club’ than Genoa as he declares ‘I want to be top scorer at the end of the season’.

Piatek has regained his scoring touch in recent weeks, netting four times in his last four games after going five without a goal, and the Poland striker is delighted with his decision to join Genoa.

“I’m happy about being top scorer, but it’s nothing special,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Piatek has regained his scoring touch in recent weeks, netting four times in his last four games after going five without a goal, and the Poland striker is delighted with his decision to join Genoa.

“I’m happy about being top scorer, but it’s nothing special,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’m thinking about scoring in every game and I want to be top scorer at the end of the season, not just now.

“I have to believe I’m capable of that. I’m a striker, so I must have faith in my ability and think I can go as far as possible.

“I knew I couldn’t score in every match. Not even Messi or CR7 can do that. When I stopped scoring goals, I missed the sensation and just tried to take every chance to the fullest.

“Genoa are an ambitious club, who usually finish mid-table, so therefore I’d find space to play.

“I couldn’t have wished for a better club, plus they’re the oldest one in Italy, but I’m not thinking about becoming a legend for a club. I just want to score, always and ever more.

“I go day by day, without looking too far ahead. Prandelli is a Coach with great experience. I learned a lot from Ballardini too, but Juric arrived at a complicated time, when it was difficult to pick up results.

“The squad is young, but it’s one of great quality and we’ve shown it. I also have a beautiful understanding with Kouame.”
