Lazio are on a roll and Vladimir Petkovic wants to keep it going against Palermo. “Lazio must be commanding and fear no opponents.”

The Biancocelesti struggled horribly during the summer, but Petkovic has a 100 per cent record so far in official games between Serie A and the Europa League.

“It was very important to rest after Thursday’s game, so I haven’t analysed our opponents too much with the team so far,” said the Coach after crushing FK Mura 5-1 on aggregate.

“We will start that this evening. Palermo are opponents to be respected and have many champions. We respect them, but we must be commanding on our own turf. Lazio must fear nobody.

“It’s pointless immediately giving a verdict on what we can do this season. At least allow 10 games to see what level everyone is at. In any case, Serie A has certainly not become any less interesting. I am confident and the important thing is to keep improving day by day.”

Lazio got into the Europa League, but have a very tough group against Tottenham, Panathinaikos and Maribor.

“It’s better to have an incredibly difficult group,” argued the former Sion boss. “We certainly won’t be lacking in motivation and it’s great that we are facing three sides who the fans want to see. We can certainly compete for the top two places.”

However, Petkovic is not entirely happy with the transfer campaign at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I certainly can’t work with all these players. Maybe they’ll be divided into different groups doing specific training sessions when I prepare for a game.”
