Pescara are through to the Serie B promotion play-off Final against Bologna after a 2-2 draw at Vicenza.

The winners will go on to face Bologna in the first leg of the play-off Final on Friday.

The first leg ended 1-0 to Pescara, which meant the Delfini had three points in this mini-league of two games.

Vicenza would need to win and if they were all level on goal difference, they’d go through as the side that finished higher in the regular season.

It took just four minutes for Pescara to gain the advantage in front of a shocked Stadio Romeo Menti crowd.

Mario Sampirisi tried to intercept a Francesco Zampano cross, but clumsily knocked it into his own net instead.

Vicenza drew level on the stroke of half-time thanks to a marvellous Federico Moretti solo run, dribbling all the way from midfield to score.

Birkir Bjarnason was in the Pescara squad last time they were in Serie A and he contributed to climbing back there by nodding in a Matteo Politano cross.

Ransford Selasi risked making it 3-1 for the visitors, his right-foot strike skimming the upright, but instead Andrea Cocco equalised one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

A victory here would put Vicenza through to the Final, though Pescara kept pushing and Nicolas Bremec flew to palm a Federico Melchiorri curler away.

It's a remarkable story considering Coach Massimo Oddo was only appointed before the final round of the Serie B regular season.

Either Pescara or Bologna will be in the top flight next term along with already-promoted Carpi and Frosinone.
