Mattia Perin’s agent has played down his error made for Italy yesterday and also reports linking him with Monaco.

The Genoa ‘keeper let slip a shot through his arms to concede for the Azzurri during their 5-3 win in a practice match with Fluminense on Sunday evening.

“Mattia is happy, fine and above all, focused,” Matteo Roggi has told Calcionews24 today.

“It is not every day that you get to be a part of the national team for the World Cup. He has matured and experience and is living these days with the right calmness.

“His error? I think it was a mistake, yes, but not so important. We are talking of a boy who is 21 years old, so it is an error that he can make.

“Whether he is a guy with the right quality is out of the question, I think, as even in the remaining minutes he played he made some good saves.

“It was his first as a starter, these are things that can happen, but I would love that attention is focused not only on his error.”

Perin has also been linked with a surprise move to Monaco, but Roggi doesn’t see this as likely.

“I am thinking nothing. Monaco have a strong goalkeeper who will recover from injury [Victor Valdes]. I cannot say whether or not it is media speculation, but I have not had any feedback in this regard.

“His head is only in Genoa then? Absolutely. Mattia thinks only of doing well with the shirt of Genoa.”
