The 20-year-old goalkeeper will be recalled by his parent club in the summer after his loan stint at Pescara.

Genoa, though, already have a first choice in experienced Frenchman Sebastien Frey.

“Who understands football can’t say that Mattia will be the reserve next season after what he has shown in Abruzzo this term,” Matteo Roggi told Ita Sport Press.

“His growth has to be given some consistency and if the Rossoblu are recalling him then it evidently means that they have great faith in him.

“I don’t think it would make sense for Genoa to put such a strong player like Mattia on the bench.

“If Genoa don’t think that they can offer him first team football then I think they’ll take steps to make sure he is given that somewhere else.

“But I think that is a remote possibility.”

Perin, formerly of Padova, appeared in 29 League games for relegated Pescara this term.
