Pipita left Los Merengues to join Napoli in 2013, and he’ll face them tonight in the first leg of the Champions League Quarter-Final.
“It’s something the President did,” Jorge Higuain told Cadena Ser of his son’s departure.
“He [Gonzalo] definitely didn’t like him very much. I think Karim [Benzema], Cristiano [Ronaldo] and Gonzalo would have done a lot together, they’d have grown tired of winning at Real Madrid.”
Higuain Jr has been accused of missing chances in big games though…
“Obviously you expect more from players of a higher level and Gonzalo comes into that bracket. Two months ago they criticised Ronaldo, and Benzema gets constant criticism.
“For 10 years Cristiano and [Lionel] Messi have dominated the Ballon d’Or, while the best number 9s for the biggest in Europe have been Benzema, Higuain, [Robert] Lewandowski, [Edinson] Cavani and [Luis] Suarez, and they’ve been constantly criticsed.
“They need to know how to live with it.”
Jorge, a former centre-back, also discussed the tie between Juve and Real Madrid.
“Playing against Real Madrid is never easy, they have a very talented and deep squad,” Higuain Sr warned.
“Juventus are somewhat reduced in comparison, unfortunately they still have some players to come back but [Max] Allegri is a very intelligent Coach who will choose the players to cause Real Madrid problems.”
