Roma winger Carles Perez says Barcelona are “now in the past” after signing for the Giallorossi in January.
Perez joined the club on loan with an obligation to buy in the summer for an estimated €13m, and the 21-year-old says he is happy to be at the club.
“I have always seen Roma as a great club. I talked with coach Fonseca, who explained to me what I could do with this team,” said Perez in his press conference.
“This was decisive. I am very satisfied."

Perez was asked if he had any ambition about returning to Barcelona, but states that the Catalan side are now consigned to history.
“If I chose to come here, it’s because I want to grow as a player. I signed a four-and-a-half year contract, and will do my best for Roma. Barcelona is in the past for me.”
Perez then revealed that Fonseca warned him about the rugged nature of the Italian game.
“Yes it’s true, he told me about Serie A games on the phone. I was able to immediately prove my aggression in the first game, in the second I felt more comfortable and I think things went better.”
