Alvaro Pereira praised captain Javier Zanetti, insisting “there are no problems” at Inter, and brushed off Tottenham rumours.

The full-back spoke to Sky Sport Italia and is looking forward to this weekend’s trip to Palermo.

“Inter are in good shape, as we won last Sunday and got more confidence after some setbacks,” he said.

“Now we have to focus on winning the games that are left and taking it one match at a time, without making calculations.

“We are all facing the same direction and are working to do well on the field and off. This is a wonderful team and there are no problems between us. There were some adversities, but we have always stayed united to overcome them.

“I am a new player in this squad, but I can say the whole club and fans only want one thing – to win. An Inter player must always want to win.”

That attitude also comes from captain Zanetti, who remains a key figure at the age of 39.

“He is a friend as well as a teammate and my captain. We have a great rapport and he helped me a great deal when I first arrived,” added Pereira.

This week the player was linked with a move to Tottenham, as Andre Villas-Boas had already worked with him at Porto.

“I respect Inter and that doesn’t change knowing of the interest from other teams. My future is called Palermo.”
