Sergio Pellissier admits he was “surprised” to receive a three-year contract extension by Chievo.

The striker recently turned 36, but signed a new deal holding him to the club until June 2018.

“I wasn’t expecting three years, I was surprised and felt great confidence in me, which I hope to repay in full,” Pellissier told Sky Sport Italia.

“The principle objective of the club is to stay in Serie A, as that’s too important for a club like ours.

“On a personal level, I hope to score a few more goals and reach 100 in Serie A. Every year feels like starting from scratch.”

He has been at Chievo since July 2000, save for a loan at Spal in 2001-02.

Pellissier currently has 93 Serie A goals to his name.
