Sergio Pellissier has expressed his delight after he finally celebrated his 100th goal for Chievo Verona.

The striker had been stuck on 99 until he rippled the back of the net in last night’s 2-1 over Novara in Serie A.

“I’m happy,” the 32-year-old told Sky Sport Italia. “These 100 goals have really made me suffer.

“Unfortunately this negative moment for me arrived just when I was on 99 strikes and I had to score one more goal.

“It’s normal that the journalists and the fans made an issue of it. They thought that it was down to the fact that I wasn’t calm about the situation.

“To be honest, it wasn’t a problem for me at all. The problem I was having was not scoring a goal, it wasn’t not scoring my 100th goal…”

Pellissier, actually capped by Italy, has been playing for the Flying Donkeys since 2002 after spells at Torino, Varese and Spal.

Meanwhile, Chievo boss Mimmo Di Carlo stated: “I’m happy that he’s found that goal. He no longer has to suffer.”
