Monaco and Italy teen Pietro Pellegri is expected to miss at least another month of action after undergoing surgery on his left thigh.

Pellegri has played just 79 minutes of football for Monaco this season and pulled out of the Italy squad last month with an injury.

“I don’t know if this problem has anything to do with the groin one he had,” admitted Coach Leonardo Jardim, referring to the last operation the 17-year-old had in March.

“Unfortunately the lad is unlucky. He came here in January with physical problems and he continues to have them.”

Genoa sold the attacker to the former French champions for a reported €25m back in January, but he has scored only one goal for the principality side, who find themselves in the Ligue 1 relegation zone.
