Verona boss Fabio Pecchia says the Serie A table suggests there will be four teams in the battle to avoid relegation.
The Scaligeri, who are six points clear of bottom club Benevento, trail both SPAL and Crotone by two points, with a further five-point gap to 16th placed Cagliari.
Pecchia’s team have been in the bottom three for virtually the entirety of the season, but speaking ahead of today’s crunch home meeting with the Pitagorici he insisted that what matters is to be outside the relegation zone when it counts.

Pecchia’s team have been in the bottom three for virtually the entirety of the season, but speaking ahead of today’s crunch home meeting with the Pitagorici he insisted that what matters is to be outside the relegation zone when it counts.
“I want to approach this match like our recent games at home, against Milan and Juve – with the same spirit and intensity,” the Verona boss told reporters.
“I don’t know if there are four teams in the battle, but the target in the end is to be outside the relegation zone when it matters.
“Right now, the table tells us that there are four teams in the battle, but anything can happen.”
Pecchia refused to comment on who might be signed to replace defender Martin Caceres, who has recently been sold to Lazio.
“For me right now the market is closed, I need to think about Crotone.
“I have valid alternatives for the moment, I’ll only talk about who I have available.
“From Monday, I will talk about who is coming in and who is leaving. Now I am talking about my boys, this is the group who will face Crotone.”
