And speaking at a Press conference ahead of today’s crucial trip to fellow-strugglers Verona, Zenga admitted his squad needed to be strengthened.

“We needed to raise the quality of the team, because if you don’t improve you don’t go anywhere today,” the Coach began.

“Years ago it was enough to have people who ran. But today, to get through the pressing of the opposition you need quality.

“I can say that I am satisfied with what the club has done in the market.

“We still have the second half of the season ahead of us and we need to take it step by step.”

Zenga praised today's opposite number Fabio Pecchia, comparing the Verona boss to Rafa Benitez.

“He is a young Coach in the mould of [Rafa] Benitez. He plays good football and he still hasn’t lost a head-to-head match against direct rivals.”
