Inter are close to signing Corinthians midfielder Paulinho according to Gazzetta dello Sport, but he won't arrive until January.

The 24-year-old has been the subject of much speculation during the summer and was said to be on the verge of joining Inter in July. He instead opted to stay at Corinthians, who wanted to keep hold of him at least until after December's Club World Cup, which they will compete in as reigning Copa Libertadores champions.

Since then Inter have brought in Gabi Mudingayi and Walter Gargano to strengthen their central midfield, but with Dejan Stankovic and McDonald Mariga likely to leave in January, it seems the Serpenti will return for the Corinthians number eight.
