He instead opted to stay at Corinthians, who wanted to keep hold of him at least until after December's Club World Cup, which they will compete in as reigning Copa Libertadores champions.

Since then Inter have brought in Gabi Mudingayi and Walter Gargano to strengthen their central midfield, but with Dejan Stankovic and McDonald Mariga likely to leave in January, it seems the Serpenti will return for the Corinthians number eight.
