Inter could take Javier Pastore or Henrikh Mkhitaryan on loan in January, reports suggest, but with no option to buy.

The Nerazzurri have put together a Scudetto challenge under Luciano Spalletti, and currently sit two points behind Serie A leaders Napoli.

While the club’s leadership are keen to strengthen the squad in January, they have Financial Fair Play restrictions to think about, so must be self-financing.

The Beneamata have to bring in €60-70m by the end of June, so any spending will have to be done in the summer transfer window after a new FFP auditing period starts.

Spalletti has only three centre-backs available, so one possible move is to bring Alessandro Bastoni back from his loan at Atalanta early.

In addition, Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United would be open to a straight loan deal for Pastore and Mkhitaryan respectively.

The latter has played just 19 Premier League minutes since November 5, and doesn’t appear to be part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.

Meanwhile, Pastore appears set to leave PSG as he struggles to hold down a regular place in Unai Emery’s side.

Neither could be signed permanently in January, and any loan deal couldn't include an obligation to buy as Inter can't commit to the spending until July.

The Argentine could be the more likely loan signing, as Ramires could arrive from Jiangsu Suning and the Nerazzurri have only one non-EU slot available.

As an Armenian, Mkhitaryan would take up that space but Pastore has an Italian passport.

It appears Suning Group are unwilling to allow Inter to have Ramires for free, though that situation could change as it’s believed the Brazilian wants to leave China.
