Manuel Pasqual admits he “won’t rule out” a transfer away from Fiorentina after losing the captain’s armband.

Coach Paulo Sousa wants the armband to rotate around several players in his squad, but as Pasqual rarely starts games, he has fallen far down the pecking order this season.

“I’m disappointed, but I think that’s normal,” he told Firenzeviola.it at the inauguration of a new Fiorentina Store.

“I was the captain for many years, but I accepted the Coach’s decision. An armband certainly won’t change my professionalism or my hunger to work. If anything it’s motivation to do better.

“A transfer? You never know what could happen. I don’t like to rule anything out with regards to my future.”

The Viola are still third in Serie A, but have drawn their last three competitive games.

“It’s a pity about the recent results, but the team has played well overall, apart from the first half against Empoli. I am superstitious and so avoid talking about the title, but this side deserves to be in its current position. There’s a long way to go, but with this hunger we can do something very important.

“The whole team went out to dinner and that was a positive sign. We have the right spirit and prove we’re enjoying our football.”
