Marco Parolo is “convinced if we’d had 11 men against 11, we would’ve been able to overturn it and win” against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Biancocelesti had equalised through Parolo, but made far too many defensive errors even before Dusan Basta and Joaquin Correa were sent off, eventually losing 4-1.

“When going two men down in a stadium like this, it became difficult. We had been able to draw level, but even at 2-1 it was still an open and balanced game.

“Eintracht did well to punish us with two counter-attacks when we were down nine to 11. It’s a shame about this 4-1 result, because it’s an exaggerated scoreline. I don’t see it all negative, as we would’ve turned it around in the long run, just as we did with Vitesse last season.

“Nothing can be taken for granted in Europe, but we really could’ve done better. We have to get our heads down and work hard. It’s a negative period, but we have to get right back on track this Sunday.”
