Tommaso Ghirardi believes his Parma team can dream of qualifying for European football this season for the form they are currently enjoying.

Beyond Juventus, the Gialloblu are the most in-form team in Serie A with five wins from the last six played.

Having secured League safety for another term, the club has their President enjoying the moment.

“We are doing well in the League and the important thing is to always improve,” Ghirardi enthused to reporters on Monday.

“We have managed to maintain a good margin over the relegation zone and in the last four rounds we have been in good physical shape and this has allowed us to move behind the big teams and for us this is a source of pride.”

Ghirardi reflected on the competitiveness of the team as being important, in consideration both to the weekend’s win at Lecce and the attitude being taken into the midweek clash with Inter.

“In a game where we were thought to have little focus because we are already safe, I am proud of my team and their sportsmanship and professionalism shown at Lecce.

“The Coach wants to take us as high as possible and we are charged, even for Inter. It’s a very delicate game, it will be important to train well, we’re playing a lot during this period, but this will be a sell-out, there is great enthusiasm and it is not wrong to dream.

“In the case that we win, we could reach the European places and why not dream of this for the happy moment that we are currently living in?”

Beyond the outside hope of playing European football next season, Ghirardi confirmed his intention to start a long-term project at the club, with Roberto Donadoni continuing as Coach, and maybe Sebastian Giovinco in attack.

“We have half the player’s contract, so I would say 50-50 possibility. With Juve we have excellent relations, at the end of the season we will meet amicably and will talk to what the ideas are.

“Parma had the merit of believing in him, to invest in him, to give him space, and you also have to credit Juve who had the power to sell him but risked only selling half and now have the certainty of owning half a major player.”
