Atalanta forward Alejandro 'Papu' Gomez insists he would only leave Bergamo for a top side.

The Argentinian has scored 14 domestic goals this season, prompting talk of a move away.

"I never made promises because we do not know the future" Papu told Eco di Bergamo. "I can only repeat what I have always said, that I would only leave Bergamo for a top club."

After a year in the Ukrainian Premier League, Papu would be wary of a move to China.

After a year in the Ukrainian Premier League, Papu would be wary of a move to China.

"That means for a team who is competing for the Scudetto in Italy or for the Champions League in Europe. China? I will not make the mistake of four years ago, to go to China for money and then to leave.

"For China, the United States or the UAE there will be time. I have never played in Europe and I want to do so.

"If we get there with Atalanta I’ll shave my head and dye it white as soon as the hair grows.

"Papu Dance? we'll make a song with own goals.

"Europe? We’ll endeavor to get there. In the meantime if I were Atalanta I’d offer an appropriate renewal proposal to Papu. Then we'll see if we get to Europe and what are the plans are for the future.

"Here there is everything necessary to remain among the top eight clubs in Italy and I think that there are no particular financial constraints.

"For Italy there are rules that do not allow me to hope. We should change them.

"But now we must speak about Argentina: some say Gomez and Icardi, who are captains in Italy with Atalanta and Inter deserve space in the Albiceleste side."
