Former Inter CEO Ernesto Paolillo called Erick Thohir’s tenure “a failed project and he must know that too” ahead of the sale to Suning.

A Press conference has been called in Nanjing for Monday at 8.00 UK time (7.00 GMT) to announce the takeover by Suning Commerce Group of 68.55 per cent of the club.

“I am not surprised at all, because it was inevitable Thohir would sell after his failed project,” Paolillo told Radio 24.

Paolillo was the CEO of Inter and then director general from 2006 to 2012, helping to fund Financial Fair Play rules.

“Thohir left the club in more or less the same condition he found it, which means he got lucky, because his tenure was a failure.

“I’d give him four out of 10 for his performance and I think he must know that too. He did only what anyone else would’ve done.

“The Chinese investors will treat Inter like a multi-national company and can expand the brand.”

There are reports Massimo Moratti will sell his remaining 30 per cent of the club, but remain as an advisor to the new owners.

“I don’t believe this theory, as otherwise he wouldn’t be selling all of his shares. Moratti is wise to sell, because the minority shareholder always loses out,” added Paolillo.
