Christian Panucci has vowed to “write another page in Albania’s history” after being unveiled as their new Coach.

Panucci succeeds fellow Italian Gianni De Biasi, who guided Albania to their first-ever major tournament last summer, and the former Azzurri defender suggested his contract would take him through the qualifying campaign for Euro 2020.

“I’m convinced that I have a very good team, and we have four big qualifiers for the World Cup ahead of us,” explained the 44-year-old.

“Although qualification is almost impossible, we’ll need to prepare for the objective of Euro 2020.

“I look forward to starting and giving happiness to the people of this country.

“Biasi did a great job with Albania, he made history. For my part, I’ll make sure that I write another page in this national team’s history.

“The group put together by De Biasi has raised the level of Albanian football.”
