Goran Pandev aimed a sideswipe at Gian Piero Gasperini and praised Edinson Cavani. “He is at the same level as Samuel Eto’o.”

The Macedonian gave an interview to the Corriere dello Sport in which he pledged his loyalty to the Azzurri.

“I have been in this country for 12 years and can say with certainty that Napoli will be my last Italian club. I don’t know what will happen, but I have already told my family that there won’t be another Serie A jersey after this one.”

He has played for Spezia, Ancona, Lazio and Inter, joining Napoli in August 2011. Curiously, he’ll face Palermo today with Gasperini, the Coach he clashed with at San Siro.

“Something started changing at Inter at that time and Napoli convinced me to change. It wasn’t an easy encounter, as there were immediately tactical problems. I won’t judge his decisions, but I do think I did better than Gasperini at Inter…”

Pandev was full of praise for Napoli teammate Cavani, who is on 99 Serie A goals.

“I have played with Eto’o, Milito and Sneijder, so I can say he is at the same level as those players. He is a phenomenon.

“His hunger is the same as mine, as he wants to win everything and I hope to help him at least win the Capocannoniere title. His goals are our fortune.”

There have been reports that another of Pandev’s ex-Inter teammates, Mario Balotelli, could come to Napoli.

“Mario is full of quality and a genuine champion. He has an exuberant character, but he’s young and people ought to show more understanding. I think he’d do well here, as this Napoli welcomes world class players. Mario is fabulous.”
