Sampdoria may be dismantling their front line, but captain Angelo Palombo has officially extended his contract to 2015.

The club has been subjected to protests after selling Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini during the January transfer window.

Samp hope to calm the situation by formally adding another two years to the contract of midfielder Palombo.

“I am happy,” said the Italy international. “By now I am effectively a fan, as I feel Sampdoria through and through.

“Samp are my second family, even though it may seem like a cliché. Extending my contract was my only desire.

“I recently had my 300th game for the club. If everything goes as expected, then I can close in on legends like Fausto Pari, Pietro Vierchowod and Moreno Mannini. Reaching Roberto Mancini's level will be difficult, but I'll do my best.”

Mancini holds the record with 424 Serie A appearances for Samp and 98 in the Coppa Italia before leaving in 1997.
