Parma defender Gabriel Paletta has shaken off transfer rumours and admits he hasn’t “decided yet” whether to represent Italy or Argentina.

The centre-back recently put pen to paper on a contract extension holding him to the Stadio Tardini until June 2017.

“I am happy here,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I found the right calm that helps me to play and live better.

“I don’t know if I am an idol to Parma fans. I just know that I am part of a great squad and we are trying to secure safety as soon as possible.”

Paletta has Italian origins and is one of the players Cesare Prandelli could call up for the Italy side.

“Nobody has yet called me to ask if I wanted to wear the Azzurri jersey. I haven’t decided yet, because first of all my focus is doing well with Parma.”
