Palermo defender Giancarlo Gonzalez has had his driving license withdrawn after failing a drink-driving test.
The Costa Rican is currently both suspended and injured, so was not due to line up for the Rosaneri in their match with Fiorentina on Sunday evening.
He was left at home as Serie A’s bottom club made the trip to Florence, but it has emerged that in the early hours of Sunday morning the 28-year-old’s car was stopped by Sicilian police amid suspicions of drink-driving.

He was immediately subjected to blood tests, which revealed the player’s level of alchohol was above the allowed limit.
As a result, Gonzalez has been fined €500 and had his license revoked.
