The Rosanero stand on the verge of a return to the Italian top flight at the first time of asking, if in Week 37 next weekend they can better or equal third place Latina’s result.

For the club’s President, it is a formality and attention has already turned to next season, which will remain under the guidance of Coach Beppe Iachini.

“I have already celebrated [the promotion] two Sundays ago, now I will go to Novara [Palermo’s next opponents] with the players and then go away, I never watch the games.

“It was a requirement to go back up and we have done it,” Zamparini has reflected this week in the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“How many things will change in Serie A? Very few. We have this image of me and Iachini, a team of workers, like Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid, whose work and personality has taken them far.

“We will look to Europe, not to survival. Iachini will certainly remain, fortunately he has always been underestimated.

“I know him best of all, I had created the Coach at Venezia [in 2001 when together], he is human and in tune with the players and with him we have become men. With him, I’ll take great satisfaction.

“At the head of Palermo I have made many mistakes, including bringing in [Pietro] Lo Monaco as director – when I came back it was already too late and we were without a guide.”
