Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has rejected the idea that captain Fabrizio Miccoli will leave the club at the end of the season.

Miccoli’s contract expires in June, but the Rosanero chief is adamant that the forward will not head out on a Bosman free transfer.

“His renewal is not in doubt,” Zamparini noted. “He’ll stay with us until the end of his career. We’re working on a two-year deal.”

The 33-year-old Miccoli, five goals in 18 League games this term, was a wanted man during the January transfer market.

“The President has photographed the situation perfectly,” agent Francesco Caliandro told TMW. “We’re working for a renewal and there are the conditions in place to do a deal.

“Parma and Torino made enquiries last month, but Palermo didn’t have the desire to sell their captain.”
