Palermo have officially agreed a deal for Blackburn creative midfielder Mauro Formica and reportedly also Wigan Athletic striker Mauro Boselli.

According to various Italian news sources, Rosanero director Pietro Lo Monaco completed negotiations for the pair and they could arrive in Italy for medicals this evening.

“Palermo Calcio announce it has reached an agreement with Blackburn Rovers Football Club for Mauro Abel Formica,” read a statement.

“The Argentine player, born in 1988, will already be at the disposal of the Rosanero Coach tomorrow and will be presented to the media on Friday.”

Formica is a 24-year-old attacking midfielder who has been at Blackburn since August 2011.

It’s a return to Serie A for 27-year-old Boselli, who had a brief spell at Genoa in 2011 and barely featured, still scoring twice in seven appearances.

These reports come after Palermo confirmed a €4m deal had been struck for Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino.
