“We expected Fiorentina to take up their option,” Rosanero director Giorgio Perinetti noted. “But this did not happen.

“There are a number of teams who are interested in him now so we will just have to wait and see what happens.”

Palermo, relegated to Serie B in the past campaign, agreed a €7.5m buy-out fee with Fiorentina last summer.

The former Brescia, Bologna and Inter player appeared in 32 League games for the Tuscan giants in 2012-13.

The 27-year-old is an Italian international.
