Palermo continued their unbeaten run in pre-season with a convincing 4-1 defeat of fellow Serie A side Parma at the Renzo Barbera.

An active opening half saw the Rosanero dominate their opponents in midfield, as Giuseppe Sannino debuted a 3-5-2 formation.

Midfielder Edgar Barreto opened the scoring seven minutes before the break and even though Alessandro Lucarelli almost immediately equalised down the other end with Parma’s first real attempt at goal, Palermo still went in at half-time ahead.

That was thanks to Josip Ilicic’s notable strike. The tall Slovenian skipped past two challenges and avoided Antonio Mirante in the Gialloblu goal to finish.

Goals in the second half from Eros Pisano and Igor Budan asserted the Sicilians’ dominance in this pre-season test.
