Palermo have announced Paulo Dybala can play this weekend – despite the words of President Maurizio Zamparini.

The Rosanero patron suggested yesterday that the striker would not play in the final four games of the season, as he’s on the verge of being sold.

However, in a statement on the official club website, the Sicilian side claim the President was misinterpreted.

“The club notes that the statements given by the President to some newspapers yesterday have been misinterpreted,” the official statement began.

“The President has never declared his intent to stop Paulo Dybala playing in the final days of the campaign.

“He did, however, express his hope of seeing youngsters such as [Andrea] Belotti, [Robin] Quaison and [Ivaylo] Chochev on the pitch on a more consistent basis, to help their development for next season.

“The objective of the President and the club is to start building the foundations for the future of the team now, with the aim of building an increasingly competitive and ambitious squad.”
