Padova and Novara are in the promotion play-off Final after goal-packed encounters to eliminate Varese and Reggina.

The Serie B play-offs continued on Sunday to find the single team that will join Atalanta and Siena in the top flight next season.

Padova had a 1-0 lead from the first leg and travelled to Varese for a dramatic clash that saw them trailing 2-0, then 3-2, but fight back continually for a 3-3 draw.

The hero of the night was Stephan El Shaarawy, an Under-21 Italy international of Egyptian origin on loan from Genoa, as he scored twice.

Padova won the tie 4-3 on aggregate and go through to the Final, where they will face Novara.

This too was a spectacular game, as Novara had earned a 0-0 draw away to Reggina in the first leg.

The northerners took the lead after eight minutes through Cristian Bertani, but saw an Emiliano Bonazzoli brace turn the tie around.

Only in stoppages did Marco Rigoni pop up with the decisive goal for a 2-2 final result, letting fly with a screamer of a volley from the edge of the box that settled under the bar.

Because away goals do not count in the Serie B play-offs, a draw overall sent Novara through thanks to their superior record during the season.

The first leg of the Final is in Padova on Thursday evening, while the second match is in Novara on Sunday night.
