Sassuolo coach Alessio Dionisi stressed his men ‘must believe’ they can beat Inter on Saturday and stressed he’s ‘optimistic’ ahead of the big game in Reggio-Emilia.

The Neroverdi entertain the champions this weekend and Dionisi is ‘optimistic’ ahead of his seventh Serie A game since replacing Roberto De Zerbi at Sassuolo.

“We face the team that won the Scudetto, but we have to believe in it and want to amaze,” Dionisi said at a press conference. “We have to show that we are as good as previous teams.

“We need time, but I’m optimistic.”

Inzaghi: ‘Inter deserved more in Champions League’

Sassuolo started the season with a win against Hellas Verona but went four games without a win after the opening game.

Another win against Salernitana last time means the Neroverdi sit 12th in Serie A with seven points from six games.

“A team has what it deserves and at the moment we have what we deserve,” Dionisi admitted. “Perhaps we have been better in our performances than the results, but if we continue like this, I’m convinced everything will be compensated.

“In a championship, the real values emerge, it’s still early to look at the table.”

Dionisi expects a tough test when the reigning champions arrive at the Mapei Stadium but said Sassuolo are confident ahead of the big game.

“I expect a difficult match, we know who we have ahead of us and we must hope they can make a mistake,” Dionisi said.

“Tomorrow will not only depend on us because we will face a strong team, the strongest on paper because they won the championship, a group with confidence.

“Tomorrow it will almost impossible to keep a clean sheet, we will work hard to make it almost possible.”
