Former Genoa boss Claudio Onofri believes that new Palermo signing Paulo Dybala can become one of the leading stars in Serie A.

The 18-year-old striker, who joined the Rosanero from Instituto de Cordoba during the summer, is seen as one of the brightest young talents in Europe, and Onofri has claimed he can make as big an impact in Sicily as countryman Javier Pastore did.

“Dybala is pure talent,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport. “He is agile, fast and is lethal from set pieces. He's not a centre forward, but an attacker that can exchange quick passes with a teammate.

“Of course, he is only 18, and I do not expect him to be a champion straight away, but if I was [Palermo boss Giuseppe] Sannino, I would use him at home, in a supportive atmosphere.

“Where he comes from, in Argentina, is not an easy championship. Just look at how River Plate have struggled this year in the Primera Division. For Dybala to score 17 goals in a season, to me, means that he'll adapt quickly to our League.”
