The Premier League has confirmed that only 77 per cent of its players have received both jabs and are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The figures have been updated after a slew of positive tests and cases brought the tournament practically to a standstill, with half of the 10 fixtures postponed last week.

The statistics released by the Premier League show that 77 per cent of players received two jabs, whereas 84 per cent have had one injection.

Serie A COVID vaccine uptake protecting from Premier League cancellations

This was rather curiously described as “84 per cent of players on the vaccination journey.

“No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League, and player vaccination rates will now be publicly communicated at the end of each month, beginning in January.”

That is a slight increase from the 68 per cent who had received the vaccine in October, but is still lower than the average population in England.

Those receiving one jab has risen only from 81 per cent to 84 per cent, meaning there are still 16 per cent of Premier League players who are completely unvaccinated.

This is a huge gap from the 98 per cent of Serie A players who were fully vaccinated in October.

  1. Threaten them to not pay 2 monthly wages and they will gladly take the jab. Conspiracy theory idiots!

  2. That’s not bad? Each to their own. Doesn’t stop the spread having it and if those guys fancy their chances then so be it! Just don’t take up a bed if the time comes
