Palermo have officially announced that Luca Rigoni will join Genoa once the transfer market opens in January.

The player has been frozen out of the squad by Rosanero President Maurizio Zamparini since their embarrassing Coppa Italia exit to Alessandria.

The 31-year-old has been at the Stadio Renzo Barbera since joining from Chievo in 2014 and has one goal in 10 Serie A appearances this season.

“U.S Citta di Palermo announces that from tomorrow, as per the agreement with Genoa FC, the player Luca Rigoni will train with the Ligurian club, while waiting to formalise the eventual transfer at the opening of the transfer market,” read a statement on Palermo’s official website.
