Despite announcing yesterday that he would stay, Pescara have confirmed the departure of Massimo Oddo.

A board meeting yesterday resulted in the unanimous decision to retain the Coach, but today the Delfini have had a change of heart.

“Delfino Pescara 1936, after the discussions which took place yesterday and further discussions today between President Daniele Sebastiani and Coach Massimo Oddo in the presence of sporting director Luca Leone, have reluctantly come to the decision to remove the Coach from the technical guidance of the Biancoazzurri, along with his assistant Marcello Donatelli,” a statement reads.

“The hope is that this sacrifice can empower the current group of players so that the current performances being offered are never repeated.

“The club thanks Massimo Oddo for the work done so far and the great satisfaction given to the fans, and wishes him all the best for his sporting future.

“At the moment the team is following the pre-agreed training schedule under the guidance of Luciano Zauri.

“In the coming hours the club will make its final decision regarding the technical guidance of the first team.”
