Perugia have announced that they have parted company with Coach Alessandro Nesta.
Nesta took charge of Perugia last May and guided them to the promotion playoffs in Serie B, courtesy of Palermo’s demotion to the third tier.
However, his tenure has come to an end after a 4-1 defeat to Verona, which saw the Umbrians bow out at the preliminary stage.
“An incredible experience ends today, which has let me grow, doing the job I love,” wrote the former Milan, Lazio and Italy defender on Instagram.

“Thanks to all of Perugia Calcio, my players and the fans who have supported us throughout the season with passion and pride, at Curi and away from home.
“It was a tiring year, with some exciting moments and others less so but certainly intense, positive and constructive.
“Again, thank you everyone and see you soon.”
Fellow World Cup winner and ex-Milan defender Massimo Oddo is the favourite to succeed the 43-year-old.
