Stefano Mauri is officially back at Lazio after signing a new contract, but with reported anti-betting clauses.
The former captain had been released when his deal expired on June 30.
A brief statement released by the club this evening read: “S.S. Lazio announce that Stefano Mauri is registered to the Biancocelesti.”
There are reports emerging that this contract includes an anti-betting clause to protect the Aquile from any more allegations of match-fixing or illegal activity.

Earlier this month Mauri was cleared of the latest accusations and will not stand trial.
He is expected to earn €800,000 per year plus bonuses for a maximum of €1.1m.
“Last Friday the club called us and that was the open door to get back to training with Lazio,” revealed agent Simone Canovi on Tuttomercatoweb.
“Then on Tuesday evening we finalised everything with the return of President Claudio Lotito.
“I had never lost hope for a return and Lazio were looking for someone like him. He was relaxed during his time as a free agent.
“We had offers from Turkey, India, MLS and even within Italy from a newly-promoted club and a Serie B side. As soon as the FIGC announced there would be no further action against Stefano, we received two calls from Turkey and Lazio.
“We had no need to even consider the Lazio offer. He is happy with this return.”
