UEFA have officially suspended the Europa League Round of 16 first leg games between Sevilla-Roma and Inter-Getafe due to the Coronavirus.

The games looked in serious doubt as the Spanish government cancelled all flights to and from Italy in an effort to contain the Coronavirus in Spain.

The Seville authoritises refused to permit Roma’s plane entry into the country in order to play the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 match, whilst Getafe refused to leave Spain to play Inter, with the first leg at San Siro.

UEFA have now announced that both games have been officially suspended.

These are the first two games suspended by UEFA in the midst of the Coronavirus.

Atalanta played in Valencia in last night’s Champions League Round of 16 second leg, however the travel restrictions between the two countries only came into effect from midnight, thus allowing the game to go ahead.

La Dea won 4-3, going through to the quarter final 8-4 on aggregate.
