Inter have announced that Matteo Darmian signed a new contract to remain with the club until June 2024.

His current deal was due to expire at the end of this season, although he had always been clear that a renewal was on the cards.

The announcement comes just 48 hours after he scored the winner in the Coppa Italia quarter-final against Atalanta at San Siro on Tuesday evening.

The versatile defender has now contributed two goals and two assists in 22 official matches for Inter in the current campaign.

Sky Sport Italia report the deal includes an option to extend to June 2025.

A product of the Milan youth academy, Darmian represented Padova, Palermo, Torino, Manchester United and Parma until his initial loan to Inter in October 2020.

That move was made permanent the next season at a cost of €3.3m.

Traditionally a right-back, Darmian can also play on the left or in central defence, in a four-man back line or as the wing-back in a 3-5-2.
