Udinese have officially announced the return of head coach Gabriele Cioffi following the dismissal of previous boss Andrea Sottil.

The Friulian side have started the new season in disastrous fashion and currently find themselves 18th in the Serie A table after nine matches, picking up just six points from six draws. Sottil had guided the team to a 12th place finish last season but was not able to turn things around this term.

Cioffi previously spent two years of his career with Udinese, first working as the assistant coach before taking over the first team in December 2021. He left at the end of that season and spent just four months with Hellas Verona before his dismissal.

As announced today, Cioffi has now returned to the dugout with Udinese, signing a season-long deal with an option for a second year. He has been joined by assistant coach Cristiano Bacci and match analyst Andrea Aliboni.

Udinese’s next game is against Monza on October 29th.
