Brescia midfielder Daniele Dessena has reportedly avoided a double leg break but still faces around three months out with a fracture.

There were fears Dessena had broken the fibia and tibula in his right leg after a nasty collision with Erick Pulgar during Brescia’s 0-0 draw with Fiorentina on Monday.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport writes that while he did fracture the malleolus in his ankle, he did not sustain any serious damage and will not need surgery.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport writes that while he did fracture the malleolus in his ankle, he did not sustain any serious damage and will not need surgery.

The 31-year-old left the field on a stretcher and in tears as he risked suffering a similar injury to the tibia-fibula break that ruled him out for much of 2015-16.

While he received an outpouring of support from several famous faces, teammate Mario Balotelli was furious the VAR did not review Pulgar’s tackle.
