“Nobody believed in us at the beginning of the season,” Valero told Sky Sports Italia. “And yet we're proving to them all that we're not afraid of anyone.

“I asked Santa Claus for two presents: to keep on winning and to score a few more goals. It would be important for myself and for the team.

“Sousa is a great Coach, he instilled in us the mentality that every match is fundamental. His words make us feel like a united group.”

Borja Valero was also asked who the strongest player in Serie A was.

“To find him we'll have to wait until the end of this championship. It used to be [Andrea] Pirlo, one of my models. He showed his worth for many years.

“Now that he's gone we'll see who's going to take his place. The Scudetto? We'll try for it until the end, we want to leave no option unattempted.”
