“Napoli have not asked us for him,” President Antonino Pulvirenti noted to Radio Marte. “No other clubs have come forward for Bergessio either.

“It’s all just speculation and there is no truth in the stories at all.”

Pulvirenti added that, although the transfer window will close on September 2, his club had introduced their own deadline.

“All of our players know that Friday is the last day in which we will consider any eventual requests,” he explained. “After that, we will deem the window closed.”

Bergessio, 29, initially joined the Italian club in 2011 from Saint Etienne.

The Argentine striker, also linked with Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”14″>Fiorentina in the past, has scored 25 goals in 79 Serie A games for the Elefanti.
