Marco Giampaolo insists Sampdoria cannot afford to give any less than their “best” when they travel to Fiorentina in Serie A on Sunday.

Samp can break into the top half with victory over Fiorentina at the weekend, but the Viola are unbeaten in their last six games, prompting Giampaolo to warn his side that only their all will do at the Artemio Franchi.

“It matters a lot to have won that game against Inter, although from a Press point of view, more prominence was given to Inter losing,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“I always point towards the collective, knowing that our individual qualities are important for enriching the team.

“Inter fielded great individuals, but collective ability sometimes reduces the gap.

“To get a result in Florence, we’ll need to be the best Sampdoria on the pitch. Fiorentina are a team with great individuals and are very difficult to play against because they don’t give you references.

“La Viola and Napoli are the two teams that move the ball the best, albeit with different footballing ideas.

“Nowadays, they score many more goals than they did the past and only few of their games end 0-0.

“Not conceding against Inter was important because we were able to win the game as a result.

“It’ll be an excellent game because [Fiorentina] have extraordinary ideas and players.”
