The Nerazzurri have had a nightmare start to the season, having lost four of their first six League games.

Such a run of results has left them in the unfamiliar position of 17th in the table after collecting just four points from a possible 18.

“It would be impossible for Inter to be relegated to Serie B,” the former Italian national boss told Radio Rai.

“I can rule that out. I’m 100 per cent sure that won’t happen, actually I’m 2000 per cent certain that Inter won’t go down.”

Inter started the season under the guidance of new boss Gian Piero Gasperini, but he was replaced by Claudio Ranieri following a shock defeat at Novara.

Inter have never been relegated to the second tier of Italian football, an honour they shared with Juventus until they were demoted by the Calciopoli scandal.

The outfit’s lowest ever Serie A finish was 13th in the 1993-94 campaign.
