A conflict of interests has emerged that could keep Marcello Lippi away from a job as technical director for the Azzurri.

The former 2006 Coach was expected to be an integral part of Italy's new management, which will likely start after Euro 2016 with Giampiero Ventura's team.

However, the Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Lippi's son Davide, who works as a football agent, may be the cause of a critical conflict of interests.

The Federation's regulations do not allow for a direct relationship to subsist between an employee of the federation and a football agent. It doesn't help that Davide Lippi represents some players who are relevant to the national team, including Azzurri starter Giorgio Chiellini.

Unless Davide Lippi were to stop his professional activity, his father Marcello won't be able to take up the job, barring any bureaucratic loopholes that have been overlooked.

The failure to appoint Marcello Lippi will be unwelcome news for Ventura, as the two were personal friends.

Among the alternatives being considered there are Arrigo Sacchi and Francesco Guidolin.
