Torino coach Davide Nicola was ‘happy’ to see Antonio Sanabria arrive and stressed he's only focused on ‘the present’, as he works to ‘save’ the Granata.

The Granata coach said his players must face Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta ‘as a team’, in order to get away with anything tomorrow.

“They have been in the Champions League for two years, they’re a proven team,” Nicola said at a press conference. “And I respect Gasperini.
“We have to play as a team, be compact and tidy. This can make the difference. It’s an improvement step for us.”

Torino signed Sanabria from Real Betis for a reported €7m this winter, a player Nicola also coached at Genoa last term.

“I have coached him, he knows what it means to be in a group with our values,” Nicola added. “I’m happy that he has arrived, he’s a technical player and a modern forward.”

Nicola was asked if he needs to meet a set target for a renewal at the Grande Torino.

“I didn’t hesitate for a moment to accept,” he stressed. “I’m very convinced that what comes after is not important, only the present.

“I want to save Toro.”
